That Tasty Cookies

​The most common definition of a cookie is a tiny, sweet baked treat. Flour, sugar, egg, and some kind of fat or oil are the most common ingredients in this confection. Additionally, it may contain things like dried cranberries, oats, chocolate chips, or nuts. 

Molded Cookies. Molded cookies are usually round in shape and are formed by rolling the dough with your hands. Dropped cookies are produced by dropping a tiny amount of dough (approximately 1 tablespoon) from a spoon or a small scoop onto a cookie sheet that has been preheated. Some of the cookies are easy to remove off the spoon and may be cooked right away. To release a stickier dough, give it a push with your finger or use a second spoon.

A cookie dough that has been rolled out is used to make rolled cookies. "Drop cookies," on the other hand, is the polar opposite. Preparation and rolling out of the cookie dough are the next steps. The cookies are cooked after they've been cut out of the batter and put on a cookie sheet.  A cookie press is an equipment used to make pressed cookies like ridgeback. It is made out of a cylinder with a plunger on one end that is used to extrude cookie dough through a tiny hole on the other. 

Take care. Directly over the center of the cookie, center the utensil and push straight down with equal pressure. However, use caution: if you push too hard on your Kaiser roll cutter, it will cut entirely through the dough, leaving you with random tear-shaped pieces to piece together as best you can.

Refrigerator Cookies are cookies made using refrigerated cookie dough that has been cut and baked. They are less messy to prepare than rolling the cookies out on floured surfaces, and they often come out of the oven with fairly consistent sizes and shapes. A potluck favorite, bar cookies (or bars) are prepared by pouring or pressing batter or stiff dough into a baking pan or baking dish, then baking, cooling, and cutting into bars, squares, or diamonds. Single-layer bars (similar to brownies) or multi-layer bars — with cake-like or chewy textures.
